Do you know what is better than lasers and cells growing in a lab? Me neither, but lasers and cells growing in the lab are pretty cool and we have a lot of both. Does lasers makes bzzz, bzzz noises, and can we actually watch cell transforming? We will try to illuminate those mysteries... and beer!

Were you a good cell today? Let’s see the footage!

Karin Schelch (Postdoctoral Researcher in Cancer Research)
Have you ever wondered about cells in a lab? Do they grow in plastic bottles like they do in our body? Of course, they do! We can actually see them growing and moving... in colour and hear them! (The last we cannot… anyway). With our advanced tools, we can study aggressive cell behaviour and uncover the secrets of diseases, and I have the photos and videos to prove it.
Let me show you!

Lasers and Lasers of the Futurelab

Fritz Diorico (Postdoctoral Researcher in the area of Quantum Sensors)
Fundamental research has been the source of advances in modern technology. One notable example is the laser. Lasers boast in their focused power and single frequency (‘colour’). Lasers have unlocked the mysteries of the universe and, at the same time, connected the world through communication. In this Pint Of Science, I aim to provide a stronger appreciation towards lasers through a basic and intuitive review of lasers and its significance.
